We have many times of the year that we can tell someone how much we love them and there is nothing more fitting than Valentine’s Day. Originally Valentine’s Day served to celebrate saints and martyrs and many saints tended to be called Valentine as a result. Geoffrey Chaucer introduced the concept of romance and private love through his many love poems igniting the tradition of sending symbols of love to the person who had caught our eye. Generally gifts consisted of beautifully decorated cards and little keep sakes. The popularity of the festival has increased over time and has moved far away from its Christian roots and has taken its seat in the commercial domain along with celebrations such as; Christmas, Easter, Christenings, Weddings and Birthdays that encourage people to purchase keepsakes for their loved ones.
Choosing gifts
Choosing a gift is often quite challenging because there are so many to choose from and sometimes you only really want to give a symbol of your love that isn’t too expensive or gives the impression that you are about to propose to someone you have only know for a short while. One excellent way to show how much you care but not overpower your loved one is to give them a special bear as a present. We have moved a long way from the traditional teddy bear invented after Roosevelt had his famous interaction with a grizzly bear. Teddy bears now wear clothes, come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and don’t always look like bears at all. Finding a bear or image of a bear is quite straight forward these days because brands such as, ‘Me to You Bears’ produce a variety of different gifts based on their little grey blue nosed Tatty Teddy.
Universal Gifts
Me to you bears are so diverse that a young child and an older adult would get the same pleasure from receiving a Tatty Teddy as a gift. For the man or woman in your life you can choose a, ‘Me to you Bear’, designed specifically for Valentine’s Day with hearts and flowers and declarations of love. If you give a Tatty Teddy to your loved one you will be ensuring that they will be able to cuddle the bear on your behalf whenever they wish to.
A Family Affair
Valentine’s gifts don’t have to be restricted to giving to people you are romantically involved with you can give a gift to all the members of your family from the baby to the great great grandparent. In fact it is increasingly becoming a tradition to give gifts to family members, according to the US Greeting Card Association over 190 million valentines’ gifts are given out each year, with half going to other family members and children in particular.
Showing Everyone We Care
Really we should think of Valentine’s Day to be a day where we show everyone in our lives how much we care and hopefully that we will receive a, ‘Me to you Bear’, of our own.
