Tata Motors Limited (TML) is one of the oldest Indian automobile manufacturing companies. They started making passenger cars in 1991. In the hatchback segment, TML has got the little Nano, the cheapest passenger car in the world. The 3 petrol and 2 CNG variants are priced Rupees 1,96,308 to 2,58,106 with mileages of 25.4 kmpl for petrol and 36 kmpl for CNG variants. The Nano has a good manual AC, a CD player with USB and auxiliary ports and Bluetooth connectivity. The Indica eV2 priced from Rupees 4.40 to 4.81 lakh comes in diesel variants only with mileages of 25 kmpl. The Tata Vista is another hatchback priced Rupees 4.71 to 5.90 with fuel efficiencies of 19.4 to 22.3 kmpl. The top variant Vista Tech has ABS, power windows, power steering and a manual AC.

In the sedan segment the Tata Zest 2014 comes in 4 petrol and 5 diesel variants priced between rupees 4.64 to 6.99 lakh. The XMT variant has an automatic manual transmission (AMT). Only airbags are missing in this feature loaded sedan. The Tata Indigo eCS is another sedan priced from Rupees 4.81 to 5.89 lakh with mileages of 14, 24.6 and 25 kmpl for the 3 petrol, 2 CNG and 5 diesel variants. Tata Manza priced from Rupees 5.72 to 8.08 lakh is the only Tata car in the lower segments having safety airbags. The 4 petrol variants have mileages of 14.5 and the 5 diesel variants 21.02 kmpl.

In the SUV segment the cheapest 8/9-seater Movus coming in 8 diesel variants and priced Rupees 7.13 to 7.40 lakh has no music system or AC. The Tata Safari is a trustworthy vehicle in 2 diesel variants priced Rupees 8.42 to 9.6 lakh. This 7-seater has a manual AC and a CD player in the cabin. The latest Safari Storme is a 7-seater in 4 diesel variants with one 4×4 transmission version. The Storme with 2 airbags, a manual AC, ABS and EBD gives mileages of 14 kmpl. The 7-seater Aria priced rupees 10 to 14.75 lakh features 6 airbags and GPS navigation facility.

The MUV segment has the cheapest Tata Venture priced below Rupees 5.54 lakh and the Sumo priced Rupees 5.87 to 7.88 lakh. The Sumo Grande in 4 diesel variants and the Xenon XT in 2 variants are 2 other Tata MUVs priced from Rupees 7.22 to 8.13 lakh and Rupees 9.51to 10.50 lakh respectively. The 7-seater minivan the Winger priced Rupees 7.2 to 7.56 lakh has a manual AC and CD player.
